The Knight and the Three Dragons

I wrote this story last year for a creative writing assignment. I look back and see that it's not the best ever but I'm posting this as a little reference to myself for when I get better at the whole writing thing...
-----------------

Once upon a time in a mysterious and curious time, there was an amazing warrior of great talent. This outstanding knight was the best in the ways of the sword and could best any challenger who dared to confront the warrior. All who came before the great warrior was bested in a swift, effortless victory. Essentially, this warrior was very capable to the point of ridiculing any who couldn't follow his ways. The lone knight may have had a high sense of self worth and superiority, the townspeople still looked to him to solve all the problems of the small farm town and defeat the threatening monsters surrounding it. One night, three dragons, one green, one blue, and one red, attacked the warrior's hometown. The people called on the valiant knight to defeat the beasts and protect the town. Nonchalantly, the warrior started the journey, effortlessly traversing the land and tracking the dragons' location.

Potion Seller Script

I was digging through my files when I came across this little gem. It's my first script I've ever written where I could only write dialogue. It was bumpy but I think with some tweaks I could create something more with this.
----------

Woman
(Looking over counter frantic and concerned)
"Hello? Hello?"

Old Lady
(Screechy and Cheerfully)
"Welcome! What can I do for you?"

Man
(Sickly clutching his stomach in agony)
"Ugh"

Old Lady
(Studious and Focused staring at the man)
"Goodness me. This is a new one."

Man
(Hunching over cringing)
"Unngh"

Chrono Cream Script

Since I remembered that I have a "Writing" tag I find that I don't publish my writing work on here. I should remedy this with the script to my Chrono Cream Comercial.

Some New Year's Resolutions for 2012

It's been a while since I've actually done some rambling, since the "some drawings too" to "rambles" ratio is slightly skewed toward the "some drawings" favor.

Another story from me.

By morning, the great warrior had discovered the dragons hiding spot up a mountain. At the foot of the crag, the knight shouted to the blue dragon, "Vile coward! You have the nerve to thrash in my town and tarnish it with your cursed presence?"
The blue lizard gazed down at the knight from a cliff and hissed, "Yes, dumb knight, I dare thrash your town and torment it with no fear from small humans!"
Fuming, the knight bellowed, "Foolish monster, you should know to fear me! Be ready dragon for I will repay you for the trouble you have put me through!" As the blue dragon turns back up the mountain, laughing at the knight for his conceit, the knight silently scales through the cliffside and cuts the lizard in its hind leg. The blue beast howls in pain and flies away higher to the mountains. Triumphantly, the knight screams to the fleeing dragon, "Haha! You dumb animal! I am the great warrior, you will cower before me!"

The determined knight climbed higher up the mountain, chasing the blue dragon up the peaks. By the afternoon, the fearful blue dragon flew into a cave at the face of the mountain. There, the green dragon emerged from its home. The knight shouted in confirmation, "Obnoxious troublemaker! You and your kin have desolated my fair town with your fire and flames! You knocked down its buildings with no shame on your part! I have outperformed your sibling and now I am out to slay you!"
The green fiend glared down to the knight and growled, "Me and my family have desolated you town with our fire and flames! I have no guilt or shame over knocking over its shanty buildings! But harming my brood was the last mistake you will ever make and you will be the one to be slain!"
The snarly knight screamed, "Imprudent snake, you should take you sibling's injury as a warning! I will reimburse my struggles against you!" The scaly green dragon, lashes at the knight in anger and vengeance, the warrior parries the attack and slashes into the green beast's face. The green dragon screams in agony, scaring the blue dragon and having it fly up even higher up the mountain. Now afraid of the deadly mortal, the green dragon follows the blue in a desperate attempt to escape. Successfully, the knight yells up to the dragons, "Run! Run! Waste your energy! I am the master of combat and you prolong the inevitable!"

Under the setting sun, the gritty warrior relentlessly hunted the blue and the green dragons higher to the mountain summit. When the moon rose, the great warrior was at the top of the mount. There waiting for him was the little blue dragon, the fair green dragon, and the great large red dragon. Between them was a large hole with a small but strong light flaring from it. The mountain was in fact a volcano and the dragons lived within it. The stately red dragon trotted to the brash warrior, defiantly facing him while its kin kept their distance. In fixation, the warrior shouted to the red dragon, "Devilish cur! You all have destroyed my town, its crops and its people. Their blood is on your claws and their sorrow is on your conscious! You feral demons have no souls, no hearts, or any sense of dignity! You dragons are the curse upon the world and it is in my power that I enact justice upon you all for crimes that are normally unable to punish you! Your family has already tasted my blade and not your ends are near!"
The red dragon look into the warriors eyes intently and moaned remorsefully, "It is true that we dragons have caused you grief, but we mean no harm, for all be wanted was food for our belies. but prey is scarce because of you humans driving them away. I speak for my fellow dragons as I say that we apologize for the plight we have put you all through. Our hunger clouded our judgments and we had no reason to attack your frail town. We implore you to forgive us for our nuisance and leave us free and me and my kin will never harm you city again."
Bewildered but untrusting, the warrior screamed back, "Irresponsible creature, your actions have sealed your fate and for that I refuse to forgive you! Accept your punishment, so I can end our misery!" The warrior launched at the red dragon unleashing a torrent of deadly combat techniques designed to swiftly go for the kill. But all attempts at the dragon were swiftly dodged and evaded. The red dragon stoically avoided all of the berserker's attacks. The exhausted warrior swayed and stammered, struggling to stay on his feet when the red dragon slowly approached him, give a sturdy shove, and pushed the warrior down the mouth of the volcano. The three dragons stared down the shaft in a wave of silence, and quietly flew away in to the night. The dragons were never seen again and the people rejoiced for their now dragon-less town. Unfortunately, there were other monsters terrorizing the town but no warrior to stop them. The people ended up slaughtered and the entire town pillaged and burned to the ground. Too bad, but then, that's fate.

GRAPP

I wrote this story in high school as well as submitted it to my college newspaper. I originally wanted to create a story that was the opposite of Transcendentalist ideas, but I don't think I did this correctly. I called it "Grapp" because I wanted to create a name for a non-existent space drug. Personally, I think this is the best short story I've ever produced mostly because it's finished and I actually published it. I hope I can write more stories but I don't know what to do. Anyway, Enjoy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the world of the future, humans encounter new, outside, races. These races were friendly to the humans of the future. They brought gifts to the human’s world. Valuables rare trinkets, object of glory, new cultures, enlightenment, stories of brave exploits, legends of other worlds beyond any eyes, and most of all, GRAPP. GRAPP, a substance that brought eternal bliss to all who come upon it. GRAPP was the ultimate power, more valuable than any precious metal. Humans were attracted to it like the teenagers of the past to illegal substances. Yes, the more humans had GRAPP, the more they craved the unknown item. In truth, though, GRAPP is never ingested or snorted but the sheep presence of GRAPP compelled all who were natives of the human world. The Outer Races exploited the humans for this mindless addiction, having them perform menial tasks for the acute chance to gaze upon the ultimate beauty. No cruelty, no beatings, no violence came from the aliens themselves, but they shattered the dignity of the humans, leaving them to there unwilling obsession. The Humans constantly fought to the death for the power of GRAPP. Human leaders warred with one another, making desperate struggles to get the Outer Race to favor their side. Seemingly endless war of addiction, the killing of helpless victims to the force of GRAPP, who would take the substance? Bloodshed for preciousness! Death for bliss!! Struggle for GRAPP!!! The Outers didn’t understand the deadly conflict, they just spectated the deadly conflict. They laughed at the idea of an inferior planet fighting for something so easily obtainable! They laughed at the women murdering their own children for the alien’s ultimate gift. They laughed at how men far men will go to gain their unsightly, little burden! They laughed, they laughed, they laughed! The years flew by, the humans killed their own kind, attacked their own kind, struggled against their own kind, for GRAPP. FOR GRAPP!! The Outer Races Laughed at the stupid killing, jeered at the stupid attacks, snickered at the stupid human’s struggle, for GRAPP. FOR GRAPP!! The Outers were fully amused, they believed their welcome was under stayed but they grew bored. The humans cried at their foolishness. They have left nothing for themselves, nothing for their future, their struggle led them nowhere. The human’s helpless addiction lead them to a pit of sorrow and dead. Their stupidity left them nothing! The Outer Race took silent pity, they sneered at the fools, loaded their ships with all the gifts they gave in the past, especially the ultimate preciousness of GRAPP. The Outers made one last joke at the humans expense, and left them to endure their preventable hardship. The Outer Races flew in their ships, flying away from a Human world that now has nothing.

Something a friend wrote.

I found this in one of my "Things to keep around  because I'll work on it soon" boxes. This was a short story written by one of my friends. I typed it out just so I could throw away the original. I made some minor tweaks in the spelling, grammar, and word choices, but the text is the completely from the original paper. So any story errors are not my fault.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One morning, just like any other day, Tim woke up from his nightly sleep. But then his head felt funny as he would say.
"Ah! My Head!" he bellowed and started seeing  images in his head. In these images he saw his old friend Drake holing a gun to him at McDonalds of all  places. And then the image suddenly stops. "Oh man. What was that?" Tim says grasping his head. his strange migraine just vanished. He moves on with his morning. Tim heads of to his 9 to 1 Japanese class at college. He walks past his old friend Drake. "Hey Drake! How's it going?" Tim said, Drake just walks past ignoring him. Tim crosses Nel on campus, too shy to even talk to hr he starts to walk even faster to his class. When his class starts his professor starts to tell the students to open their books to a page. Suddenly, Tim starts to break down. He grabs his head and falls to the ground, seeing more visions. This time he saw himself getting shot in the shoulder. When he regains consciousness, he is on an emergency stretcher. Tim jumps off the stretcher, peeling off the paramedic's hands and runs to his car. There he crosses Drake again, this time he gave off an evil smirk. Tim stops short,
"What's going on?" he asks himself. He gets into his car  and he collapses again right before starting it. This time hew saw the gun aimed at Nel and then he saw himself jumping out from behind to block  the bullet and Drake turning fast. The vision ends there. He figures he just needs a little extra sleep so he drives home to settle his nerves.
He feels no different, so he goes to work. He clocks in and to his surprise Nell walks up to the register. Time asks if he could take her order.
"Yeah...um... I'd like a small Coke with a salad..." Nel stares at Tim, "Wait, don't I know you?" she asked.
"Yeah," Tim replies, "We go to the same college." Nel tries to say something when all of a sudden the door slams open and to Tim's surprise it was Drake in a black trench coat and cargo pants. Tim hides, fearing because of his visions. Then he hears Drake yelling.
"Everybody down on the floor!" Drake begins to make demands. He says he wants money but then he sees Nel. "Oh hey there pretty. Why don't you come with me?" Tim just assumes it's another customer, but then he hears something as he grabs a filled coffee mug. Nel screams then Tim jumps over the counter with the mug. Drake turned quickly and aimed the gun at Tim while Nel runs away.
"What are you here?" Drake asks,
"I work here! Tim retorts. In anger, Drake pulls the trigger on his gun and Tim throws the coffee mug at him. The scalding liquid lands on the side of Drake's face. Drake falls holding his face screaming and cursing. Tim falls backwards. The image of a hospital comes up in his head. Five days later, he wakes up and to his surprise, Nel was at his side crying and thanking Tim for saving her. Nel then kisses him. Tim tries to get up but flinched at the pain in his left shoulder. Just as his vision foretold, there was a gunshot wound deep within.
"Take it easy." Nel requested.
"Where's Drake?" Tim asked
"They sent him to the insane asylum." Nel replied
"Oh my God!" Tim yelled hysterically, "I can't believe what happened today!"
"Me neither!" said Nel
"Hey Nel?", Tim asked,
"Yes Tim?" Nel looks to him
"You want to go get some Burger King when I get out of here?" he asked
"But why?' Nel inquired, "Why go to Burger King when you work at McDonalds?"
"Because I work there and I'm sick of the food!" Tim replied. They both laughed!
Since that day Tim has had more and more visions. Each time, they got less painful and though these visions, he managed to get the girl of his dreams and saved hundreds of lives.

-The End.

My top 13 problems about my art.

There are some critisisms that I should address with my art that if I can do something about it I could be content with myself.

1. I rarely have my work in color. I should try sketching my work in colored pencils.

2. I never do backgrounds. I have so many ideas for worlds but I never take the time to draw them.

3. I rarely make "finished" sketches. And by that I mean they don't look like stuff that pros have where it looks complete even if it's a pencil drawing. I need to erase more. I'm only using pencil.

4. I need to make my characters be more alive. The poses look stiff as hell especially when I use a models. I must do larger action poses.

5. I never draw characters from the back. This also goes under the previous critique. This wuld work well for fight scenes.

6. Women's faces look too similar. This is a bane of even comic artists. I won't get caught in this.

7. I need to draw more animals. How can I create a mongoose snake hybrid or a Rhinoshark if I can't draw normal animals?

8. If I'm drawing toons, they need to feel like toons. By that I mean, they should be bouncy, rubbery, stretchy, and interesting to look at when standing.

9. Many of my bodies are too thin.

10. I don't draw long enough. I only spend one  or more hours a day sketching. This is unacceptable!

11. I can't get my ideas on paper well enough. I need to figure out a way to just free draw everything in my head. Like I would free write words and I write any word no matter how ridiculous on the paper. I want to sketch this way.

12. I have an extreme lack of imagination and innovation. Explosive sharks and kittens that shoot lasers. That's been done years ago!

13. I just plain need to draw more and more often. All my free time, I slack off. When I don't have free time and I have things to do like college, I bitch and moan about me not getting enough time to draw.(like now...) I need to use my time better!

All little pissed off...

The following pissed of rant is brought to you by:

I can never feel satisfied with what I'm doing. I can never feel like I did something useful. Bah, I don't know if I'm just a glory seeker or if I truly do fail at things.
I try contributing, but I feel like I feel short. I could just be cranky from not sleeping at night, as well as waking up early because the fucking traffic!
Man, I hate driving. I hate the other faggots on the road, I hate having to avoid everything like the plague despite the fact that I could easily kill anyone stupid enough to cross me.
I wish I had a hovercar, but if hovercars were invented, everyone would want one too, because they're like a fucking hive mind. I hate being human, I really do. I can't stand being stressed out over something that was pass away.
I get stress out about an impending moment, and when the moment comes, the stress is gone. I hate those feelings! Hell, I hate feeling in general. I hate being nice, I hate being friendly to strangers and people who don't deserve it. I hate the urge to say yes to something, or feel bad for letting them feel bad. All part of fucking human nature, all part of the societal norm.
Fuck being normal. I hate being around people. You people are dumbasses and I hate  you because of that! fuck your personality because in the end you're still some dumb fuck in my way fucking with me and making me look bad. I hate anyone who makes me look bad. I hate looking bad at all. I need to sleep, but I still have shit to do. Fuck!

Sorry I had a bit of a not so feel good day.
Here a vid of me drawing a penguin:

Shooting the Breeze.

My second day of Spring Quarter has started out smoothly in my opinion. Sure, I'm going to need seventy bucks to pay for an e-math book and I have no clue how I can work that out. As well as getting money to buy ingredients to make cookies for my fundraiser to go to ACEN and wanting some new sketchbooks, I'm really not sure how I can do it. I'll manage right? Pain is temporary, and Pride is everything! So I should get a job, I could at least curb my money problems and not ask my folks for cash. But where would I work? I'm not a people person and there aren't many jobs that can let me work by myself and let me do my thing. Not only that but I have classes everyday this quarter. I could try getting a summer job, but those fill up quick. I don't want to get a job if I know I won't even be able to show up; plus, I have no clue where I could work. I mostly gave this more thought during this Resource Fair at my college where this career service lady gave my some suggestions as well as a schoolmate of mine.  I need to sleep on it. A lot.
...
...
But I'm just typing some stuff on my head right now. I mean, isn't this what a blog is for? I did title it "Ryan's Rambles" didn't I? You probably don't care. By tomorrow I won't.

Another Story Idea

A battle rages in Galmel's Dark Castle! Prince Fredrick of Southland clashes sword to staff with the Dark Wizard Galmel! Fredrick and Galmel stand on both sides of the room. Fredrick has hug dents in his shining, silver-lined armor In one hand a hefty shield to fend off some of Galmel's elemental magic power and physical attacks. In te other hand, Fredrick carries his Magic Sword of the Five Relms. It was enchanted by wizard, faeries, elves, nature spirits, and gods to help  stop Galmel's dark powers. Galmel casts a powerful lighting spell, it was as fast as its namesake, but Fredrick  also had lightning-fast reflexes and smoothly dodges the magic. He lunges at Galmel, knocking him backwards. Galmel sputters from the blow, hanging on his devilish staff of power. He hunched over like a decrypted  old man, staring at Fredrick with a vengeful hate.
" None I have faced have ever pushed me this far..." Galmel hissed, "...because any man who has faced has either been turned into a monster or killed brutally by my hand" Galmel coughed, blood splattered the floor, " I haven't the faintest clue on how you got that magic sword, but even that  sword will not stop me! I have powers from the Dark Daemons themselves! I will destroy you, Then I will destroy your land, just as I have destroyed this land!" Galmel throws a deadly fireball that he'd been conjuring as he spoke, catching Fredrick off- guard and sending him flying backward! Fredrick quickly sprung to his feet as Galmel tried to freeze him on the ground with and ice spell. He throws another fireball in anger, but Fredrick bats the fireball away with his sword.
"You will be the one to die Galmel!" The Stalwart Prince declared, "Your actions have tormented  Northland long enough! I have fought my way though this darkened land, battling thousands of you monsters and minions. I've stormed through your devilish castle, defeated your dragon guardian and freeing him from your spell of enslavement and I will take you down! I am not only Northland's hope, but I am also Princess Eliza's hope!"
"Ah ,yes," Galmel smiles wolfishly," the princess. Yes, The Princess of Northland is here, I won't lie to you about that, but you won't be getting to her, not while I live!"
"Then you will die!"  Fredrick lets out a cry as he speed to Galmel, he teleport to the other side of the room, and throw another fireball behind Fredrick's back. Fredrick whrils around flailing his sword and bats back to Galmel. The force of the magic blasts away Galmel throgh his tinted window
"UUUUUUUUUUWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH"  Galmel screamed as he fell to his doom. Fredrick is victorious! The Dark Wizard is no more!

Fredrick stepped up to the next chamber, there he saw the fair Princess Eliza, trapped in a bedroom; the doorway was blocked by a magical barrier. The Prince grips his sword with both hands and thrusts the blade through the enterance, smashing the seal in a giant flash of light. Slowly, Fredrick steps into the room, the Princess turned to see him. She wore a pick frilly dress and a small gold circlet that lines her forehead and here long, curly blond hair.
"Fair Princess Eliza," Fredrick began, "I am Prince Fredrick of Southland, son of King Alexander. I have come across your father's land to find it in darkness. Long have I fought to liberate the land from that darkness. And now I have defeated the dark wizard Galmel to rescue you"
"Oh, My Hero!" Eliza ran to Fredrick, they had a long, loving embrace, "You have healed my heart, Prince Fredrick, and now, I wish to give it to you!"
"Come my princess! Let us escape this dreadful castle!"  And so Fredrick and Eliza make their way down the tower and out of the castle walls. Eliza wrapped herself around Fredrick's arm as he lead her safely though, her torment was over, the land was free, she will finally return home, and she has finally found love. But as the couple got close to the exit, a dark figure stood in the way. Fredrick's eyes widened, he jumped in front of Eliza.
"No...no, impossible!" Fredrick stammered, "There was no way you could have survived that fall!"
"Hahahaha! You dumb fool" The figure stepped inside the castle, it was Galmel, he was unscathed, "Did you really think a small drop could kill me?"
"You castle is 5 stories high!" Fredrick hid behind his shield, ready to protect Eliza, "And the tower!"
"You underestimate me!" Galmel cackled, then frowned, "To be fair, I also underestimated you, but..." his wolf smile twisted again as he charged up a ball of dark matter, "I won't make that mistake again, and you won't get the chance to fix yours!" Galmel threw is ball of dark energy at Fredrick. Fredrick smiled in confidence and swung his sword at the ball. A giant flash of light filled the room! Eliza closed her eyes and upon opening them, she couldn't find Fredrick, the prince was nowhere to be found. All that was left of him was his sword now laying on the ground. Her heart sunk, she grew blind with her tears.
"You...you..." Eliza squeaked, "...You vaporized him!" She screamed, "You heartless monster!" Galmel stepped forward, Eliza grabbed the sword, "Stay away from me! Don't come near me!"
"Hahahaha! No one will save you! So I suggest you get back in your room before I make you."
Suddenly, Eliza heard Fredrick's voice, it was faint, but still hearable , "Run, Eliza!" Eliza sprinted away desperatly searching for a way out and the sorce of Fredrick's voice.
"Fredrick! Where are you?" Eliza called,
"I'm here!" Fredrick called back,
"Where?"
"I'm looking at you!"
"What?"
"I'm the sword you are holding!"
The princess stopped in her tracks, examining the sword, it looked no different than any other sword she's seen. She then put her ear  to the hilt and whispered, "Fredrick?"
"Yes"
Eliza jumped, throwing the sword in the air."Fredrick?" she gasped, "What...What happened?"
"I'm not sure, love, I cannot move at all, I can still feel my mind, and my soul, and I can still speak."
"Oh my..." Eliza carefully lifted Fredrick, "This is some kind of enchantment..."
"Galmel!" Fredrick growled"
"He must have sealed your body inside this sword!"
"The fiend! He played on my strategy!"
"Oh I'm so sorry! I brought you into to this and now look at you!"
"This was my own mistake my princess! You were only a victim to that wizard. You were taken against your will! I'm here to protect you! But..." Fredrick sounded distraught, "How can I protect you when I can't move on my own?"
"I can keep you with me."
"And you can use me as a weapon! Of course!"
"What? I-"
"I'm a sword for god's sake! I can hurt people! Yes!"
"But I can't...hurt people"
"Sure you can! Just swing me at people!"
"I...don't know..."
"It's easy Eliza!"
"For you, Fredrick. But I've never fought before. I can't even face little imp. Even dogs scare me. How could I hope to engage in combat?"
"I can tell you. I've been in combat most of my life, if I didn't  I wouldn't be here would I?" Fredrick laughed, Eliza let out a nervous chuckle,  "Don't  worry, I'll try to make sure you won't fight unless you have to, and even then, I'll help you overcome an enemy."
"Really? You promise?"
"I made a promise that I would save you from you pain, my love, and I will still keep this promise until you are out of it, no matter what pain I endure myself."
"Oh Fredrick!" Eliza cried. Her knight in shining armor wasn't a knight anymore, but even then, he still wanted to save here no matter what the cost. She owed it to him to save his live because he saved hers."I'll find some way to break this spell! I promise you won't be a sword forever! And then we can finally live happly"
"Yes, but first let us escape this castle because  Galmel is still looking for you."
Eliza gulped, and nodded.

I've been thinking

I should do a series of short comics. No, thousand page epic, just a heap of small, hopefully four page stories about anything. Why will I do this?

One: To practice drawing comics. I wanted to draw comics since I was eight, and goddammit, I want to relive the days where I would sit around with my neighbor hood friends and make little flip books and comics because I wanted to be like Dav Pikley and make a Captain Underpants-esqe comic books.

Two: To practice my writing skills. I want to test my writing skittles with a variety of genres as well as script writing, because that could be a useful job. Besides writing for comics, maybe I could write a book, I love goods stories, and I want to make other people love good stories too. Not to mention writing is way faster than drawing, though typing is a whole 'nother story.

Three: To practice drawing in general. I want to create a variety of stuff that I can be marketable with. I hope I can expand my current cartooning, as well as make a some more realistic renderings, maybe add more manga-ness than normal, or even make a photo comic in Comic Life(If I ever waste the time to get it), Or even make a batshit insane sorry about nothing.

I made a New Years resolution that I would make a finished comic story. And goddammit I will!
