I wrote this story last year for a creative writing assignment. I look back and see that it's not the best ever but I'm posting this as a little reference to myself for when I get better at the whole writing thing...
-----------------
Once upon a time in a mysterious and
curious time, there was an amazing warrior of great talent. This outstanding
knight was the best in the ways of the sword and could best any challenger who
dared to confront the warrior. All who came before the great warrior was bested
in a swift, effortless victory. Essentially, this warrior was very capable to
the point of ridiculing any who couldn't follow his ways. The lone knight may
have had a high sense of self worth and superiority, the townspeople still looked
to him to solve all the problems of the small farm town and defeat the
threatening monsters surrounding it. One night, three dragons, one green, one
blue, and one red, attacked the warrior's hometown. The people called on the
valiant knight to defeat the beasts and protect the town. Nonchalantly, the
warrior started the journey, effortlessly traversing the land and tracking the
dragons' location.
By morning, the great warrior had
discovered the dragons hiding spot up a mountain. At the foot of the crag, the
knight shouted to the blue dragon, "Vile coward! You have the nerve to
thrash in my town and tarnish it with your cursed presence?"
The blue lizard gazed down at the knight
from a cliff and hissed, "Yes, dumb knight, I dare thrash your town and
torment it with no fear from small humans!"
Fuming, the knight bellowed, "Foolish
monster, you should know to fear me! Be ready dragon for I will repay you for
the trouble you have put me through!" As the blue dragon turns back up the
mountain, laughing at the knight for his conceit, the knight silently scales
through the cliffside and cuts the lizard in its hind leg. The blue beast howls
in pain and flies away higher to the mountains. Triumphantly, the knight screams
to the fleeing dragon, "Haha! You dumb animal! I am the great warrior, you
will cower before me!"
The determined knight climbed higher up
the mountain, chasing the blue dragon up the peaks. By the afternoon, the
fearful blue dragon flew into a cave at the face of the mountain. There, the
green dragon emerged from its home. The knight shouted in confirmation, "Obnoxious
troublemaker! You and your kin have desolated my fair town with your fire and
flames! You knocked down its buildings with no shame on your part! I have
outperformed your sibling and now I am out to slay you!"
The green fiend glared down to the
knight and growled, "Me and my family have desolated you town with our
fire and flames! I have no guilt or shame over knocking over its shanty
buildings! But harming my brood was the last mistake you will ever make and you
will be the one to be slain!"
The snarly knight screamed, "Imprudent
snake, you should take you sibling's injury as a warning! I will reimburse my
struggles against you!" The scaly green dragon, lashes at the knight in
anger and vengeance, the warrior parries the attack and slashes into the green
beast's face. The green dragon screams in agony, scaring the blue dragon and
having it fly up even higher up the mountain. Now afraid of the deadly mortal,
the green dragon follows the blue in a desperate attempt to escape.
Successfully, the knight yells up to the dragons, "Run! Run! Waste your
energy! I am the master of combat and you prolong the inevitable!"
Under the setting sun, the gritty warrior
relentlessly hunted the blue and the green dragons higher to the mountain
summit. When the moon rose, the great warrior was at the top of the mount.
There waiting for him was the little blue dragon, the fair green dragon, and
the great large red dragon. Between them was a large hole with a small but
strong light flaring from it. The mountain was in fact a volcano and the
dragons lived within it. The stately red dragon trotted to the brash warrior,
defiantly facing him while its kin kept their distance. In fixation, the warrior
shouted to the red dragon, "Devilish cur! You all have destroyed my town,
its crops and its people. Their blood is on your claws and their sorrow is on
your conscious! You feral demons have no souls, no hearts, or any sense of
dignity! You dragons are the curse upon the world and it is in my power that I
enact justice upon you all for crimes that are normally unable to punish you!
Your family has already tasted my blade and not your ends are near!"
The red dragon look into the
warriors eyes intently and moaned remorsefully, "It is true that we
dragons have caused you grief, but we mean no harm, for all be wanted was food
for our belies. but prey is scarce because of you humans driving them away. I
speak for my fellow dragons as I say that we apologize for the plight we have
put you all through. Our hunger clouded our judgments and we had no reason to
attack your frail town. We implore you to forgive us for our nuisance and leave
us free and me and my kin will never harm you city again."
Bewildered but untrusting, the
warrior screamed back, "Irresponsible creature, your actions have sealed
your fate and for that I refuse to forgive you! Accept your punishment, so I
can end our misery!" The warrior launched at the red dragon unleashing a
torrent of deadly combat techniques designed to swiftly go for the kill. But
all attempts at the dragon were swiftly dodged and evaded. The red dragon
stoically avoided all of the berserker's attacks. The exhausted warrior swayed
and stammered, struggling to stay on his feet when the red dragon slowly
approached him, give a sturdy shove, and pushed the warrior down the mouth of
the volcano. The three dragons stared down the shaft in a wave of silence, and
quietly flew away in to the night. The dragons were never seen again and the
people rejoiced for their now dragon-less town. Unfortunately, there were other
monsters terrorizing the town but no warrior to stop them. The people ended up
slaughtered and the entire town pillaged and burned to the ground. Too bad, but
then, that's fate.
